BC Cancer Agency expands storage and geographic footprint of Bycast's StorageGRID MultiSite™ Diagnostic Image Archive
Vancouver, Canada June 5, 2003
Bycast Inc. is pleased to announce that the BC Cancer Agency (BCCA) has signed an agreement to expand its image storage and distribution GRID deployed with Bycast's StorageGRID MultiSite™. Storage capacity of the image archive will be increased from 10 to 15 terabytes and the geographic footprint expanded to include three additional sites located throughout the province of British Columbia.
Each of the BCCA's cancer centres will be linked into a unified archive for all diagnostic imagery for cancer care. Additional Bycast nodes will be deployed at BCCA sites including the Fraser Valley Centre, located in Surrey, BC, Centre for the Southern Interior, located in Kelowna, BC, and an additional node will be installed at a Community Cancer Centre to be determined.
"Reliably storing and quickly accessing patient's images throughout our geographically distributed enterprise is a critical element to delivering cancer care, Bycast's GRID technology has proven to be a resilient and comprehensive solution and their attention to detail has exceeded our expectations. We are increasing our investment in Bycast's StorageGRID MultiSite™," said Midori Kawahara, Project Manager for the BCCA.
"We are excited to be working with the BCCA to define a new standard in image archival and distribution. With the addition of the new nodes, the BCCA's deployment of Bycast's StorageGRID MultiSite™ is one of the largest image storage and distribution networks in Canada," said Geordan Chester, Vice President of Professional Services at Bycast.
