2003 - Bycast Inc. www.bycast.com is the pleased to announce the successful completion
of the BC Cancer Agency's (BCCA) Diagnostic Image Distribution
Network using Bycast's GRID storage software solution.
The BCCA is a world leader in cancer care and is responsible
for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer for the entire
province of British Columbia.
Don Henkelman, CIO of the Provincial Health Services
Authority that governs the BCCA said, "Increasing
the quality of patient care is our priority and Bycast's
revolutionary GRID architecture allows us to dependably
distribute, store, and retrieve diagnostic images
throughout the province. We have achieved substantial
cost savings using the StorageGRID product."
The Bycast StorageGRID MultiSite ™ product
is deployed in an image storage and distribution
GRID linking together locations in Vancouver, Victoria,
and Children's and Women's Health Centre of B.C.
The solution allows imaging studies created within
BCCA and those acquired from other hospitals in the
province, to be integrated into the BCCA's electronic
health record, and it enables seamless enterprise
wide access throughout all BCCA locations. The GRID
initially went live in December 2002 and capacity
was increased to 10 TB in February 2003. The capacity
upgrade was done on the live system with zero impact
on users.
Moe Kermani, CEO of Bycast discussed the approach

access to all diagnostic imagery used for cancer
