Intelligent Information Lifecycle Management to Deliver Scalable Enterprise Medical Image Archive
Vancouver, BC – February 27, 2004 - Bycast Inc., the leading provider of grid-powered storage solutions, today announced that Mercy Hospital has selected the Bycast StorageGRID™ solution to power their enterprise medical image archive.
Mercy Hospital is a comprehensive medical center and part of the Catholic Health East, one of the nation’s largest healthcare systems. Its Centers of Excellence include: The Heart Center at Mercy Hospital - one of the premier cardiovascular centers in South Florida; the Miami Cancer Center at Mercy Hospital - one of the leading multidisciplinary cancer treatment centers in Miami-Dade County; and the Orthopedic Institute at Mercy Hospital. With the implementation of a Bycast StorageGRID archive, the hospital will be able to improve the quality of patient care by providing faster access to medical images throughout the entire hospital. Importantly, the radiology and cardiology departments will have transparent, integrated access to the medical image archive from their respective Canon and Philips PACS systems. As well, Mercy Hospital will increase the overall cost effectiveness of their medical image management by storing the right image, on the right media, at the right time using Bycast StorageGRID. To date, the hospital has used a tape library for medical image storage.
