Vanderbilt University Medical Center implements
Bycast grid-powered archive
Vancouver, BC – October 24, 2007 – Bycast Inc., the leading provider of grid-powered storage management software, today announced that Vanderbilt University Medical Center has standardized on its StorageGRID 7 product. Installing StorageGRID 7 across its two datacenters allows Vanderbilt Medical Center to contain costs associated with managing explosive data growth, ensure data integrity and timely data access to physicians, and control against application downtime. In particular, Vanderbilt faced the following key challenges:
-
two datacenters with 70+ terabytes of patient data across
-
multiple applications multiple potential points of failure that placed data at risk
-
explosive data growth
-
requirement for continuous availability of data to clinical users
-
underperforming yet not fully depreciated third-party storage area network (SAN)
The Bycast StorageGRID 7 solution enables Vanderbilt to address their storage challenges and achieve lifetime data protection through an integrated, multi-tiered storage grid that spans both data centers and leverages existing SAN. In addition, the solution ensures users gain fast, consistent, and reliable access to stored data, independent of growth.
“After extensive research of the market, we selected the Bycast StorageGRID 7 solution because the Bycast team listened to our needs and focused on addressing our business challenges versus just more hardware configurations,” said Randall Ward, Director Technical Systems Infrastructure, Informatics Center, Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
“StorageGRID has not only allowed Vanderbilt to address their data storage problems, but do so by re-purposing the third-party hardware in a heterogeneous environment,” said Moe Kermani, CEO of Bycast. “This demonstrates how Bycast is helping customers effectively deal with real-world multi-vendor, multi-site environments rather than expecting them to abandon investments they have already made in existing storage systems.”
